Yoga

Yoga is a scientific system of physical and mental practices that originated in India more than three thousand years ago. Its purpose is to help each one of us achieve our highest potential and to experience enduring health and happiness. With Yoga, we can extend our healthy, productive years far beyond the accepted norm and, at the same time, improve the quality of our lives.

The word yoga comes from Sanskrit meaning to join or unite.  Hatha means sun and moon.  The practice of Hatha Yoga implies a joining or integrating of all aspects of the individual – body, mind and soul honoring and balancing the polarities that co-exist. Yoga encompasses a wide range of approaches and practices, including physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation, among others. All of these lead to compassionate self-awareness, working through our physical experience to access, awaken and refine ever subtler depths of ourselves. Whether you seek to stretch and strengthen your body or are on the quest to deepen your internal awareness, yoga can bring you home to yourself and your unlimited potential.
