Evolve In-Person Classes

Each week we offer a variety of classes at satellite locations all over Southern Maryland. These classes will be very limited in size to allow for social distancing and ensure the health and safety of our clients and staff. Preregistration will be required for these classes and any late cancels/no-shows will be charged. Clients have up until two hours before the start of class to cancel their reservation. At this time, we are not able to accept drop-in clients for these classes.

Evolve Virtual Studio

In addition to our in-person classes, Evolve Yoga + Wellness offers Livestream and Prerecorded Virtual classes in over a variety of modalities. Preregistration for all Livestream and Prerecorded classes follows the same process through Mindbody as our in-person classes.

What is a Prerecorded class?

Prerecorded classes allow our clients the ability to take class whenever it fits in their schedule! All prerecorded classes can be downloaded to your computer and kept forever! Please note that preregistration is required for all virtual classes.

What We Offer

Evolve Ashtanga Flow

Ashtanga is the foundational practice of what we now know as modern day yoga. Evolve Ashtanga Flow will rejuvenate your body, making it stronger, toned, more flexible and controlled. Evolve Ashtanga Flow will introduce you to the first series of Ashtanga Yoga, which is designed to open, align, strengthen and purify the body. Open to all levels, the flow includes Sun Salutations, standing postures, a balancing sequence, as well as a seated sequence creating a truly transformational practice for mind, body and soul.

Evolve All Levels Yoga

An Evolve signature class combining Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga styles that challenges both beginners and advanced students alike with a thoughtful arrangement of poses (asanas). Each class will focus on alignment, increase body awareness, strength and flexibility while refining foundational yoga postures. This class will also introduce more demanding postures that are sure to increase stamina. Slower pacing (when compared to vinyasa classes) allows for more time spent holding and aligning postures, often with props. This class will often weave together different styles of yoga teachings (i.e. Yin, Restorative, etc.) in order to deepen students’ awareness and further refine technique.  Options and modifications will be offered, allowing you to move at your own pace and challenge yourself just as much as feels good to you in each moment.

Evolve Barre 360

Our Evolve Barre Sculpt class can only be found here!  If Yoga Sculpt and Barre had a baby… Hello, Evolve Barre Sculpt!  This class uses mindful movements that will challenge you from the inside out with isometric holds, pulses, abdominal work, and dynamic movement. This is the ultimate form-focused flow of movement, combining functional movement and traditional barre and yoga methods to build strong bodies. Evolve Barre Sculpt includes strength training, barre, yoga and Pilates. This barre-less barre class promises to pulse, press and sculpt every muscle group in your body through thoughtful, all accessible, endurance-based strengthening.

Evolve Flow 360

Evolve Flow 360 offers all the great benefits of yoga, but with a twist.  The additional attention to strength (particularly with light hand weights and bands) along with a little cardio blast session is for the yogi who wants to move in a whole new way.  This class incorporates segments of yoga flow with weights and/or band, then cardio (no weights), topped off with some final asana and balancing poses before hitting the mat for savasana. This class is lightly heated between 80 and 85 degrees.

Evolve Flow + Yin

Flow & Yin brings the best of two worlds together, creating an amazingly transformative experience. The first portion of this class incorporates a challenging vinyasa-based flow to build strength, stamina and balance. You will certainly build up a sweat before transitioning to the yin poses to close the practice. The Yin portion of this practice is a more meditative approach to yoga, focusing on flexibility and mindfulness. Here you will be holding poses for longer periods of time, targeting the connective tissues of the body to help release deeply stored stress and tension. All levels welcome.

Evolve Gentle Flow

Evolve’s Gentle Yoga class is geared to those who are newer to yoga or who are interested in a slower-paced practice. Step into the present moment with simple, flowing sequences that gently warm up the body. Enjoy strong, functional movements that will improve your mobility, give you energy and build strength. Move with mindfulness and control through longer holds of postures that focus on alignment, strength, balance, flexibility and connection to the breath. 

Evolve Hot Vinyasa

Evolve Hot Vinyasa practice combines our signature vinyasa class while practiced in a heated room (90-95 degrees). Evolve’s Vinyasa is designed to keep you moving, increase your energy and bring some heat to the body. This class emphasizes linking breath, movement and sequences of sun salutations as you flow from one asana to the next. With guided instruction, alignment cues and carefully curated music, this practice will guide you through a moderately paced series of postures. Options and modifications may be offered.

Evolve Kids Yoga + Crafts

In this playful, interactive class, children ages 5-8 will learn age appropriate yoga poses, yoga games, breathing techniques and relaxation. The class will support body and breath awareness, build stability and strength in growing children, and share mindfulness techniques. Classes will incorporate music, cooperative games and creative movement to experience the benefits of the practice. Class ends with relaxation time followed by making a craft to take home after the yoga class. Participants should bring a yoga mat.

Evolve Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga

Appropriate for all levels of fitness, working with all stages of pregnancy and beyond. The emphasis of this class will be building strength, increasing stamina and flexibility, guided breath work and relaxation to prepare the mama-to-be both mentally and physically for the birth of her child. Some focus will be placed on squatting and hip opening, using gravity to aid in the birth process.

For new mamas, the days and weeks following the birth of your child can be challenging. Yoga helps to speed your recovery, reconnect you, mind and body, and aid in battling postpartum depression by joining a community of women who all share the same thoughts and feelings as you. You will feel your body begin to strengthen after the fatigue of childbirth and regain energy from sleepless nights, leading to more positive energy for your day.

Evolve Restore

Restorative Yin Yoga is open to yogis of all levels, including the beginning yoga practitioner and anyone wanting to slow the mind’s chatter and wind down. Restorative Yin combines elements of Restorative and Yin yoga practices- slow movements, breath awareness, supported holds in specific postures, all meant to cultivate an energetic balance. Postures will be held for several minutes, giving the body and the mind time to let go. This is a deeply meditative and rejuvenating practice.

Evolve Strength + Flexibility Yoga

This class will work on the principles of traditional yoga postures with a focus on improving strength, flexibStrength & Flexibility Yoga will work on traditional yoga postures to develop strength, flexibility, balance, mobility and focus.  This class aligns with the yogic principles of Stira / Strength and Sukha / Ease to create balance in the body, mind and spirit..  Breathwork and alignment will be emphasized.  Suitable for all levels. 

Evolve Tai Chi Ch’uan

In this class we will focus on the Sin Tien Wuji Chi Kung (Pre Heaven Void Work) set. The first half of class is our cultivation work: revitalizing the 5 Yin organs, lubricating the joints, and gently stimulating Qi flow in the Meridians. The Water Tai Chi method follows. This Yang style set of four ‘lessons’ is repeated with a variety of visualizations meant to enhance the student’s inner dialogue.

Evolve Tween Yoga

Evolve Tween Yoga (ages 8-12) provides a non-competitive environment to explore physical poses, breathing exercises, movement games, mindfulness activities and relaxation techniques. Tweens will also learn valuable techniques to improve concentration, reduce stress and how to connect to their bodies in a compassionate way. Participants should bring their own yoga mat.

Evolve Vinyasa

Evolve’s Vinyasa is designed to keep you moving, increase your energy and bring some heat to the body. With guided instruction, alignment cues and carefully curated music, this practice will guide you through a moderately paced series of postures. Options and modifications may be offered.

Evolve Warm Flow + Yin

This class combines our Mixed Level Flow class and restorative class.  Begin with an all levels flow to build strength, stamina and breath. In Warm and Restore you’ll round out class with a warm restorative practice. This class will help to restore range of motion, revitalize the tissues and provide the space for the practitioner to nurture, soothe and calm themselves. Through the use of props and a warm room, this class will be the ultimate relaxation of your week.

Evolve Yoga Basics

Yoga Basics offers an introduction for students new to yoga. It focuses on gentle stretches, breathing, as well as simple range of motion of the major joints. Attention to technique for efficient alignment in basic postures will be addressed. Use of props is encouraged to find optimal alignment in a gentle way. All classes will include relaxation.

Prerecorded Guided Meditation

Meditation has been proven to—reduce stress; control anxiety; promote emotional well-being; enhance self awareness and lengthen attention span.
Join Chip Guffey for a weekly evening meditation. Each week Chip will lead you through different types of meditation—sound, breath, mantra and more—to help you find a practice that resonates with you.

A new 30 minute prerecorded meditation will be posted each week so that you can do the practice when it best fits your schedule.
