95-Hour Children’s Yoga Teacher Training

Evolve offers a 95-hour Children’s Yoga Teacher Training, led by Kathy Therrien, RCYT, E-RYT. This training has been designated as an approved Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) training by Yoga Alliance. The training is presented in two parts: Part One is focused on bringing yoga and mindfulness practices into an educational setting; Part Two goes into more depth and is geared toward those seeking the 95-Hour Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher designation from Yoga Alliance.
Part One: Kid’s Yoga and Mindfulness Training for Educators
Participants will learn how to integrate yoga and mindfulness practices into the school setting for Pre-K to grade students. Topics covered will be: mindfulness practices, yoga postures, breathing practices and anatomy. This training is open to anyone who is interested in bringing yoga and mindfulness practices into a school setting. This training has been approved for 2 MSDE credits for St. Mary’s County Public School (SMCPS) teachers. SMCPS educators can also apply for tuition reimbursement through MSDE. Training is also eligible for Continuing Education Hours for registered RYTs through Yoga Alliance. No yoga experience necessary.
Part Two: Children’s Yoga Teacher Training Program
Part Two will explore more in depth a range of yoga practices in order to provide a comprehensive yoga program to children from Pre-K to 8th grade. Topics covered will be: Child Development, Designing & Planning a children’s yoga class, Yoga theory & philosophy, modifying yoga postures, breathing practices, mindfulness practices, meditation practices, working with special needs children, observation of kids yoga classes, class management and practice teaching with real children.
Participants who complete both Part One and Part Two of the training will receive a 95-Hour Children’s Yoga Teacher Training Certificate. Upon completion of the 95-hour Children’s Yoga Teacher Training participants can apply for the designation of Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) with Yoga Alliance after meeting their requirements. Typical Training Schedule:
Schedule is the same on Saturday and Sunday, each weekend
- 7 – 9 a.m.: Yoga Practice
- 10:30 – 1:30 p.m.: Morning session
- 2:30 – 5 p.m.: Afternoon session
Cost & Logistics
Each training costs $625. Cost for both Part One and Part Two of this training is $1,200.
Evolve has worked closely with the Maryland State Department of Education to have Part 1 of this training approved for MSDE credit for St. Mary’s County Public School educators. SMCPS educators can also apply for tuition reimbursement for Part 1 of this course.
